My mum does that to stop the waste pipe getting clogged up. Her machine is built into the kitchen units and has been in there for nigh on 10 years now, 1 breakdown and when the engineer came out he thought it was only about 3 months old, it looks that new inside :! | |

I have a Bosch and it's been great. I bought it on recommendations because it's quiet. My parents have had a few over the years and they said that was the best because you can't really hear it when it's on. | |
