Just had a read through and it looks like it's 2 weeks rent as a holding fee so £290 and then £175 + VAT for the credit checks so £495.62 :(

Only trouble now is that because Im a contracter they want me to find a gaurantor (sp?). They said it was essential but I dont really want to be spending £450 for credit checks etc and then not even get the place

£450 seems ludacris for checks etc. Check local papers, gumtree etc for places advertised by local landlords. You should be able to persuade them and negotiate regarding yopu being a contractor and the credit checks should be cheaper as they have no greedy letting agent to pay.

Had storage heaters when I was at home with the missus. They were a pain in the ass for the 1st couple of months as they hadn't been used in so long but once they settled down they weren't too bad.

£500pcm will only get you a 1 bed flat round here unfortuanately. That's in the nicer side of town though so you pay more for it :(

Wow thats quite a bit a month for a flat. Im looking in Lincoln as we are looking for a 2bed semi-detached, some half decent ones at £500pcm :(

And electric heating? I assume that doesnt mean Electric CH? We have these storage heaters atm and they are the biggest pile of shite ever, we dont use them, instead we burn the earth and use fan heaters

As some of you already know me and my wife split up a couple of weeks ago which meant I had to move out of our house. After feeling sorry for myself for 2 weeks I've decided I've got to get on with things so got a viewing on this place this afternoon.
It's a bit more than I wanted to pay for a flat really but it comes with washing machine and fridge/freezer plus it's a 2 bed so I can start having my daughter overnight.
