iirc you can claim something like 3 to 4 months free if the buildings empty, you need to supply proof though.

You still have to pay council tax.

But you could claim a 50% empty homes discount for a house that been unfurnished for more than six months.

Disgusting really imo.

You should get it free mate, when I bought mine I spent about 4 months gutting it and putting the bedroom and bathroom back together, just rang my local council and told them and they told me I could have it free for six months and if I hadn't moved in after that time then I'd get a reduced rate.

I was cheeky though and lived in it for 2 months before telling them....£200 straight in the old sky rocket :cool:

Whats the deal with council tax if the house isnt lived in? Hearing different stories about you pay nothing, pay half or pay it all
