as already said 6-8 weeks is norm, but you've got xmas now so add 2-3 on top, aldepends on speed of sols, mortgage app, other people in chain.

it took 4 for us, solicters were shit, had offered accepted like the 3rd of jan, got solicters and paid them on the 4th,come the end of march we were going away and every one was waiting to complete, on the mondaywe rung them and told them we were going on holiday wednesday so could they post the contracts today recorded delivery so we got them tuesday, tuesday, nothing, rang them, we didnt post them yet..
fuk wits, so they faxes them instead and they were unreadable so had to ring them and they had to talk us threw every page so we could sign it  so we did and faxed it back, but by this time it was more a collection of black blobs than a contract, but was signed so they could procede, went away for a week to fuertaventura and they kept ringing me over silly things they should of sorted months ago, got home on 4th, sent proper contracts back same day (they had come while we were away - by normal post - fukwits) and moved in on... wait for.. the crowning moment...

FRIDAY... the 13th of april...couldnt make it up :p

had nothing but bad luck with it since either lol

It's take us from October the 31st so far, we're getting the keys tomorrow (Thursday)

That's 7 weeks and 1 day.

varying stories then!

there is no chain either way for us, only problem is, when we told our landlord we didnt want to buy the house we are renting from him, he got mardy and gave us 6 weeks notice to move out!

Mine took about a month. All parties in the chain wanted to move asap.

Yeah i think it was both the seller and his solicitor who were the problem.

The seller was a lazy cunt who couldnt be bothered to do anything. (he was a Police Officer so that figures)

His solicitors kepy telling lies also. Turns out the guy is in a massive amount of debt. Letters keep turning up saying how much he owes various debt collectors lol

:|The solicitors must have been incompetent, I'd have expected as reduction in their fees

If there is no chain and everything else is in place there is absolutely no excuses for it taking more than 6 weeks

I had no chain, first time buyer etc and it was 2 years ago exactly!

Offer accepted on december 6th, got keys february 22nd

6-8 is apparently average.....

However, we had no chain up or down, straight sale with mortgage offer already in place. Our solicitors fucked up and I sacked them after 4/5 weeks when I got a letter basically saying they had forgotten about us; regardless of the fact I'd phoned every couple of days for a progress check.

In the end with the new solicitiors in place it took 4 months from acceptance of offer to getting the keys

6-8 weeks on average I believe...

Ours took 5 weeks and that was pushing it hard. You'll need all the searches to be done, mortgage company to come and do their valuation/survey, draw up contracts, set an exchange date, pay silly amounts of money, and then get the keys ;)

I'm guessing you're just waiting for the other side to get sorted?

from having an offer accepted, to getting the keys?

offer was accepted thursday, mortgage is confirmed, and solicitors are sorted...

how long do you thing it will take?
