TVs weigh nothing these days, I can't see how any unit made from anything thicker than paper would have a problem holding an LCD.

Just go by the weight, my unit is not as wide as my 40" TV, and obviously the weight of the TV is concentrated dead centre

I would assume its just on the basis of people not bothering to check weights.

The mount should obviously be narrower than the TV

That's what I was thinking. The unit can hold about three times the weight of the TV.

I wouldn't have thought it would look out of place to have a unit narrower than the TV. It's all a bit odd.

Weight of tv would be a bigger issue tbh

Hey,

I've been looking at TV stands/units recently as we will need one later this year. All the units come with a maximum TV width recommendation.

Do you think this is for any reason other than they don't want the TV to be wider than the unit?
