Used Your Conveyancer once before when we got a new deal for our mortgage. They were OK but everything was a bit lastminute.com for my liking.

About £800 to sell my leasehold flat and £1200 for the purchase, including all the searches etc.

Strikes me as a rip off but every 'real' solicitor/conveyancer in Bedford has quoted similar.

£2k? Are you buying more than one house?

The average conveyancing firm should charge £400-£600 plus disbursements (searches etc), so no more than £1k altogether. If it's a sale and purchase then possibly an extra £100, though I was already being generous on the pricing.

If you're up against a quick exchange i'd stay away from any online firm.

I used an normal Conveyancers who were remote to me when I bought mine 7 years ago. They had an online portal showing me the exact state of the process. I got good responses by email. Didn't have a single problem with them.

Personally I would find it more convenient to work via email than phone calls as its easier to do while at work

I think its fair to say a crap Conveyancer is a crap Conveyancer whether they are bricks and morter or online

The quotes broken down?
Be wary that the online ones might go up with certain things not outlined at the start.
Do both include any stamp duty due?

Its not a few hundred though Phil, its a full thousand quid.

Seems to be such a mixture of good and bad comments though, its hard to choose!

I used eConveyancer, they're just a broker really and they produced a few quotes to choose from and then put me in touch with the solicitors. Cost about £500 and things are progressing nicely.

Just use a local firm. Worth the extra few hundred.

When I bought my first house the seller used convey law. Awful.

I've heard nothing but bad about them.
Same with online Estate Agents.

Howeber, that said, a lot of firms are distance conveyancers in that email post and phone are all you get (if you wish). So really, there couldn't be much difference.

One firm I know of uses India to do its title checks :lol: mental.

I used one through Halifax, was all done online and posted stuff etc.

Vaguely tempted. Local bricks and mortar place was £2k, online are half that......
No idea on quality though
