tappety, not creaky. Doesnt sound as solid as wooden floor being laid on concrete at finish floor height

Ours isn't creaky. Besides, ours had to be raised so the floor was level with the hall way.

quote: I have seen this done on a garage that was converted into a dining room. when we knocked the old windows and doors out we could see they had raised the wooden floor using joists and crammed it with insulation. It did sound abit tappity when walking on it which would get annoying.

Wooden floor chances are it will be as they'll need to raise off the concrete won't they?

You only need vents if its a floating floor.

We have a garage conversion. You'll need to get vents put in at the front and side, like the ones in the brick work around the house.

if carpet is going in the bedroom you're better off getting the floor screeded to bring it up to existing floor level. Before screeding though, you want damp proof

Need to timber batten the walls to fix drylining or similar to. Can't just plaster up an external wall else water will soak straight through.

right my mums house has a double garage, we want to convert one side into a bedroom. Will be using various friends in the trade to get the work done but i need to get a project plan together and decide the order in which the work is carried out. |
