BORINGGGGG!!!! but as i only got into cycling tis summer, same issue, not sure what to go for over the winter. Also depending what bike you have you don't really want to be riding your summer bike outside in winter!

Cheers for all the replies, they are never going to be a patch on cycling outdoors; however, a turbo trainer would be very helpful in the winter.

I bought a load of sufferfest videos but I'd rather shove wasps up my arse than give myself a beasting on a turbo trainer!

I got mine on offer from Halfords last year. Personally really enjoy it.... Set up a man cave with a decent box set to watch - or even better try and find something inspirational to watch and motivate you. Personally I don't like indoor HiT training - I puke too easy when I overheat! I need the air blowing in my face when I do intervals. I prefer mine to put a couple of hours in concentrating on peddling technique and keeping a high cadence, then alternating to slow seated grinding in a high gear. I ride outside for lots if the winter - but when it got Icy after Christmas it was a god send

I've got an Elite turbo and block which I used last winter - you shouldn't really use it like a treadmill or static bike as it's boring and a waste of time; you should do spin style stuff on it or HIT. It's amazing how much sweat you can produce in a 30-45min session if you follow a proper regime!

Much like a treadmill, I can imagine being fine for a short period but crap for anything more than 20/30 mins

Much better to jump on the bike and go outside. Decent set of lights doesn't cost much and bikes don't take long to clean.
