Originally posted by Hammer Lallana and Fabregas valued the same? I like Lallana and he's had a good season but Fabregas has been one of the best midfielders in Europe for years and years and there is a year in age between them. English Premiership tax in full swing.
would usually tend to agree but I have a feeling their valuation is all to do with Arsenal. My understanding is that paid us £30m for Cesc with 2 clauses: 1 being first refusal to match another team's opening bid and sign the player (not quite the buyback clause we were led to believe) and 2: 50% profit on anything they sell him for over and above what they paid to us (not quite the 50% of sale fee as we were led to believe). If I'm remotely right, then the hassle for barca of trying to get much more than the £30m / €35m they paid knowing that we could match the opening bid and take him for that price and the fact that if they were to sell elsewhere then they'll lose half of that anyway means they are offering him at a lower price than perhaps MV. If they invite offers then they potentially risk losing him to us for another clubs lowball offer, so they have briefed clubs a fee that basically covers their investment. If they ask too much, they'll lose half of it anyway as well as dissuading us (and other teams due to the knowledge of our clauses) from bidding, which is most likely their ideal scenario as would be an easy deal for them due to the relationship between the 2 clubs. Plus they still us c.€10m for him and Song and also, they got him on the cheap (massively so IMO) as he was a bit of a cunt when he left PS Lallana is probs worth £10-12m max in a normal environment :\ [Edited on 03-06-2014 by Robbo]
