	i think everyones views would be different if say Wayne Rooney asked for the No.1 shirt? I though it was weird him having the number 9 but i think that just means that Mourinho will bring in a new No.9 (striker) in January or next summer. Each number 1-11 has a position which is assosiated with it in my eyes but theres no laws stopping people having anything different i suppose. anyway, dont know if any of that made sence but please take notice of my sig (below) :)

	as JR said it used to be the number according to where you were playing. ie; gk 1, defenders 2,3,4 & 5 (depending on formation) etc. and people have come to expect defenders to be 3/4 etc and strikers 9/10.
