the ranking system is laughable, it doesn't aggregate the difference in quality between federations as well as it should, barring the top 5 or 6 teams in south america the rest are poor same for the asian countries etc

Its a bit of a piss take the ranking system anyway. As Mexico have played 25 intl games this season so that is going to push them right up the rankings, especially when they are all against shitters aswell.

Top seeds are picked using a complex formula which marries previous world cup performance with the ranking system already being used. When they did it this year the top 5 were;

Brazil
England
Spain
Germany
Mexico

the top teams are all seeded so they are seperated in each group, so you tend to get two decent sides, and two average sides in each group.

Iv never followed the actual draws but are good teams put in a group along with a load of shitters or is this just coincidence? ie you dont see agentina and brazil in the same group
