I'm not massively into photography, more point and shoot, but I got myself a tripod to use on details sometimes; picked myself up a Jessops Atlantic tripod (I think) which was worth about £50... £7.49 posted on eBay lol.

Think that argos one is what i'll be after with christmas money from my sister, unless she gives me jacobs/jessops vouchers as I originally wanted, they have their own stuff for £30 odd tho

I think that's the one I have, it's pretty good imo, especially for the price. Has built in spirit levels and everything

Mind you my camera weighs as much as a feather so don't know how it fares with bigger ones

The gorilla pods I'm thinking of arent tripods, they're adjustable mounts which can be wrapped around poles/signs/furniture or whatever.

I've got a cheap Velbon £20 tripod - does the job ok but is plastic and lightweight.

I'd look at something like redsnapper (see TalkPhotography) or Manfrotto if you want to spend a bit more.

So i've been considering a tripod. but i dont know which to go for.. gorilla pods were reccomended to me.. are they any good?

My camera is just a d40 with the standard 18-55 lens..

i dont really want to spend too much either
