I've never had a parcel held until I pay duty.

I hate the fact they charge you duty and then another charge for the fact they told you that the duty needed paid but it's always via a letter roughly a week later.

I've ordered a few things from Hong Kong, and paid import duty every time - the delivery company holds the package until you pay the duty, and charges you an extra £10 for the effort.

Not worth it.

That's basically what i was wondering about, the import tax etc...

No matter now anyway, bought the camera i wanted from an england based seller, for cheaper anyway :D

Just need to hope it arrives as stated now, unlike the last time i bought a camera on ebay (missing battery and mem. card)

That's incorrect.

Gifts are only allowed tax free up to £36.

you need to ask the seller to declare the item as a gift when posting.
if its declared as a gift no import taxes apply, if not you have to pay!

Right.... they still come in cheaper even after the £40 postage costs.

Anyone ever used one and had it actually work out?

Just want to know whether it's any good and whether it's worthwhile buying from one of these shops. They always seem to have a few thousand positive feedbacks.
