looks good btw, never flown the viking, went solo in the vigilant when i did me schol in 2004

i'm still to fly the Viking, i too went solo at 16 Dec 2001 in a Vigilant at 612 VGS, at Dalton Barracks (what was RAF Abingdon) where abouts did you go in N Wales? RAF Valley?

well i will be, i'm currently waiting for paperwork to come through end of July but yes. i am trained by the RAF and wear full RAF uniform. i can also claim 28 days pay a year so now you know where some of your taxes go!

50Cal is right, ATC staff are not on active duty and although can be ordered to the "front line" would only ever happen if it was a last resort and the person in question was trained/had a specific skill.
the VR(T) stands for Volunteer Reserve (training) - basically the same as the Royal Auxilery (RAF version of TA) but with the (T) shows we have not been trained in any specific trade. we only recieve training relevant to the ATC (flying/rifle/radio/teaching/leadership skill etc) which have little worth to the RAF
