mine re called .CR2, nikons are called .NEF but they are the same type of thing

I have a fuji finepix E550, and it will do RAW, however looking at the files in explorer there not .RAW there .RAF, i'm assuming this is a fuji thing to make me use their software? as i can't seem to get rawshooter to 'see' them, any ideas?

also, fantastic new section of the site, i'll be getting some of my pics up soon :)

how do u take both raw and a low quality jpeg? take 2 pictures of everything?

raw is a digital negative but it gives the best quality image as nothing is processed in camera and no compression.

RAW on my camera is around 8mb and produces a tiff file of around 25mb. the equivelent jpeg produced by the camera is 2.5-3mb. a raw file give more detaial, less noise and allows you to change alot more without fucking up the image e.g if you underexposed it. see this page to see the difference

the only problem with RAW apart fro the time it tkes to play about it you can't view them in photshop or with window pciture viewer. I take raw and a low quality jpeg. I can view the jepg and delete if it is shit.

then you'll need somthing to play with it.

I have photoshop CS which I like but you can get a programm called RawShooter essentials 2005 for free by downloading it from this site
