Looking around forums is a good option but you've got to be aware of the risk too. We got married in April last year and got a photographer I found on the overclockers.co.uk photography forum. He was based in Hull but came down to Oxford, did an awesome job for £550. Spoke to Johnny on here at the time as well, impressed with his photos.
One of the things that was important for us was to get all the photos as full watermark free versions on disk within the price. So many photographers have different prices depending on how many photos they release to you, and then ridiculous charges to put the photos in albums. Just agree to get the photos digitally and then get albums made yourself

Getting married next year and the mrs is wanting to sort stuff out now. We're looking at photographers but they seem an absolute fortune for what you get.
Looking for somebody midlands based so wont cost a fortune in travel expenses. Any of you guys done a wedding and got some good examples of work to have a look at?
