it is a wide angle lense. on a digital camera the size of the sensor is usually smaller than the size of a film negative. so without going into too much detail my canon 20D sensor is 1.6x smaller than 35mm film so has the effect of increasing focal length by 1.6x. my 10-22mm lens (used above) has the 35mm equvilent of 16-35mm. so looking though my camera at 10mm is the same as looking through a film camera at 16mm. point and click camera have even smaller sensors which is why their lenses are not as long. | |
