Those are the no solder mods, which are no longer in production for new PS2's.

Even with those you needed an Action Replay 2 or similar to boot games, whereas with a soldered chip its direct boot of everything as if the backup games were originals.

i bought a ps2 in 2001 and two days after bought a plug and play chip and fittid it myself, never had a problem. cost me £20

The reason its £240 is that you get a guarantee with the brand new console whereas if you had it chipped by a local monkeyboy for say £50 then you wouldnt.

Covers all parts including laser ect :)

:! - £240 - you can get them cheaper than that....... or you can just get someone to chip a standard PS2 for you ;)

wel if a ps2 is chipped it wil play any region game? it is reasonably safe, but will invalidate ur warranty (1 year with new ps2) the only problems are hte lazers break if they strain to read scratched cd's. if ur cds are scratch free, then u shouldn have any probs.

and y would u want a jap ps2 to play uk games if u got a chipped uk ps2 to play ANY game??

Hello there anyone know if its possible and more importantly advisable and safe to chip the UK PS2 to play Jap games???

Also same about chipping Japanese PS2's to play UK games?
