if your downloading from kazaa you should be able to preview the film if it has downloaded a fair bit of the first part of the film file. kazaa downloads chunks of the file from lots of different people and this is why it sometimes doesn't play.

IF your downloading via programs that are souly for p2p sharing of files like IRC etc then you can copy the output file of the film while it is being downloaded. paste it in another location and then play it that way. otherwise it will say the file is already in use.

I'm not sure about getting your film to play in a DVD player. but i know you have to burn it as a VCD file. There are lots of programs on the net that will do this for you.

need to convert the avi to mpeg which takes ages, my pc took 2 hours to do the ring, then you've still gotta burn it to cd.

Also, to play it in a DVD player, firstly your DVD player will need to support the playing of Video CDs (VCD). If it does, then something like VCDGear will convert most files to VCD format for you...

If it's an avi file, you can use AVIpreview which comes with Kazaa Lite.

If it's an mpg you can just right click it in the traffic window of kazaa and say preview...
