once the machine is acting as a gateway for the LAN, say 192.168.0.1 is the gateway, then jump onto the 192.168.0.2 machine, networking settings, tcp/ip lala, gateway, put in 192.168.0.1, and for DNS settings put in your ISP DNS servers (this is so you can point your browser to websites such as www.google.co.uk

both machines need IP's, pref on same subnet, like one box might have:
192.168.0.1
other will have:
192.168.0.2

machine that is connected to the BB modem will need some sort of software to share the internet connection, do it NAT stylie.

Dunno when ICS came standard in windaz, i think WindowsME/Win2k? correct me if wrong.

If your running win98 or something you can always try something like WinRoute which is pretty fun.

ICS = Internet Connection sharing , or something.

my machine is using tcp/ip file sharing and client for micro netwks thats the lan adaptor

the other one is the same but with netbui and has sharing enabled because it for the internet modem

as for the ics
eh?

Tis a bit vague isn't it? What protocols are you using? Static or fixed IP addresses? (if using TCP/IP) Have you set up the ICS properly?

:P

I really wouldnt worry to much.

Like i said use the Windows Defrag tool. If it doesnt initiate just contact ms and they'll sort it.

Wouldnt buy a new hard drive just because of it.
