I agree they should not be verbally advertising in interviews etc but I think covering up other brands on clothing etc is a step too far. This is the Olympics which I appreciate requires sponsors but this is sponsors first, competitors 2nd. Many of the competitors our there are only there because they have the finances provided by their sponsors.

My friend works at ITV and they get truck loads of stuff sent in from manufacturers.

Its probably more to do with product placement of other brands.

Don't programs have to show a letter P in the opening credits if they're doing product placement, at least I've noticed that on a few programs.

Ah. Fair enough, maybe you/we just notice it more with apple products, as in fairness, they're such a recognisable brand, and do such a good job with their design and brand uniqueness?

They do it so that they're not inadvertently doing product placement. There are quick strict rules around showing logos and products on the TV in the UK so you quite often see things covered up - you might notice that sometimes people have logos on their t-shirts covered with tape and things.

I think Marc question was more, "If an Apple logo is shown, do the makers have to pay Apple"

Apple don't pay anyone to advertise in films etc.

Just seems odd that any other computer brand isn't covered up.

They probably don't want to give Apple free advertising.

Does anyone know why when an Apple laptop is used on tv they place a sticker over the Apple light on the back of the screen? |
