can't imagine it will not be long before someone works out the file format and develops a basic editor that lets you just generate a bunch of 'faked' gps coordinates and lets you create any layout you want.

Already exists. Do these people not to any background reading on the topics they're speculating about?

Does it do elevation - well yes, read any spec on GPS or look at any data and you'll see altitude is in there.

It won't line up correctly - OK then, drive there and back.

It'll be shit, because you can't map an entire road just by driving down it once, and its not particularly groundbreaking, but fairly nifty.

No doubt some people will take a basic sample then work on it for weeks to make it something that actually resembles the real place.

The bad thing is that people are retards. They'll end up flying down roads in real life because they've done it on the game to see which is quickest

Could be funny to go for a blast on local roads though and generate a track based on that and then go race people on 'local roads'.

Well i was thinking more for local roads than tracks. just be cool to drive a road you actually know. Suppose it depends how accurate it is. probably wont feel anything like it in a game i suppose. still, i am looking forward to it.
