Got it :D

Disable the mailbox:

Disable-Mailbox user@domain

Find the disabled mailboxes GUID:

Get-MailboxStatistics -Database "Mailbox Database Name" | fl DisplayName,MailboxGuid

Connect it back up

Connect-Mailbox –Identity abs123guid123 –Database "Mailbox Database Name" –user samAccountName

I've done what you are wanting to do in 2013, but the EAC web interface is crap.

No amount of powershell commands can make my test users mailbox appear. And it had data in it, it wasn't empty!

I thought that too - it's a piece of piss in 2003/2007 and they've made it stuipdly difficult in 2010'13

I'm looking for where it is but can't find it yet. It definitely hangs about for the retention period as default.

I want to assign a mailbox to a different user and I can't suss out how to do it. I've tried disconnecting a mailbox from a test user then trying to find it again but it's gone, even after a mailboxdatabase clean up and an overnight wait!
