I really would go with the hard wired option if you don't want to be round said friends house pissing around with a wifi extender that intermittently works for no reason | |

Have used some DLink extenders in the past without issue, similarly an old Linksys WRT router running DD-WRT. But you'll probably have better luck with a WAP and a homeplug if you can't get ethernet cabling to it. | |

I've got the same experience as pow with the wireless extenders but Sam managed to get them working fine from what he posted on here. | |
