ok I have my PC running windows 7 connect wired. i have my laptop on windows 8 wireless. I want my laptop to be able to move files about on my pc. what the best way to do this?

Homegroup wont work for some reason. the laptop will see the homegroup but when I put the password in it says it can find the destination of the pc.

dont wanna connect remotely because I want to be watching stuff on the pc when im moving the files around.

when I go into network and click on the pc it shows the pc, lets me get in and see my drives but wont let me open any of them. Says I dont have permission.

any help?
