If you are planning on doing it all the time might be worth upgrading your laptop / TV so they both have HDMI connections, one simple wire then

Does the AUX still not use the laptop amp therefore making sound quality shite when you try make it louder.

Only solution I know but just a thought if you're doing it a lot. I'd invest in one of the card reader USB media centre thingies.

Ebuyer normally has them at a good price.

Almost all TV with the VGA port have a PC audio 3.5mm input. So connect from the speaker/headphone output on the laptop to the PC audio input on the TV.

If you can't connect your laptop to your telly then a media player/streamer is what you're after. Look at something like the WD Live which is reasonably priced.

Edit - Do a search but Steve purchased a cheap (iirc £20/30) played off Ebuyer that allowed you to play media off of SD/Flash/USB drives and he said it worked well for the money.

I've got a few movies on my laptop and want to watch them on my tv, however I can't connect the laptop to the tv as it doesn't have the correct connections.

What are my options? and which is the cheapest option?
