No they aren't. As standard, you can't just download and install an exe like you can with proper windows, fair point.

It is not locked down at all like iOS, you can sideload apps as default on a domain so the functionality is already there.

iOS is properly locked down.

Edit to say that iOS isn't even just locked down, it's built that way from the ground up.

Ah - didn't realise you could side load on RT - many of the reviews and specs have said thats only on the full one. Slightly easier than iOS where you need a Company App Store

Yup those are Windows RT tablets so fully locked down just like Apple tablets, certainty not just like laptop.

You need the full Windows Tablet for that which are rumoured to be hitting the market at around $900 so ~ £800 over here.

Windows RT, not Windows 8. Thought that was the tablet version of Windows 8?

They have proper windows on it so a lot like a laptop just touch screen

Thoughts?

Quite liked the look of it - but then I'd want a dock/keyboard. But then for £499 you could get a well specced PC which would probably prove more useful than a tablet, but less portable.

Is this just a rebranded version of Microsofts Surface?

Better of with a Nexus 10 / Galaxy Tab with Bluetooth keyboard?
