If I'm honest I've got a post in geek day which shows what I've been focusing on more  spent all my spare cash on dj gear...

Did you get them Lee?

I use both the E5 and L3.

Go for the E7 if you want to spend more.

Personally i'd opt for the E7, sounds good and acts as a USB DAC which is useful if your phone/portable player supports USB Host/USB ON-THE-GO ie: N8 etc. Obviously is a bit bigger than the E5 though.

Have you got a link to what you bought and where from? Gonna take the plunge and get one bought

Review time

E5 is really good. It's lifts the whole sound. I'm no expert on what it actually does to the sound but the lift is like listening in mono then switching to stereo. The whole sound is enhanced. It also has a flat or an enhanced bass setting which is useful when listening to different types of music.

The L3 has settled down now and doesn't pop out the connector anymore. Sounds a lot better out the LO than the headphone jack.

Now need to decide where I'm going to place the amp when on the move. Easiest way looks like an elastic band to hold it on the rear of the phone. Bit rough and ready but it'll do a job.

Cheers Dom. Info was on the link about the impedance (45).

LeeM the bits turned up today so will give them a proper test run tomorrow and let you know. Quick observation is that the LOD can be slightly dislodged quite easily from the phone which results in a loss of sound in one ear.

The E5 is a good amp for the money though .

How have you tweeked it?

Replaced some of the caps for higher values to try an improve bass response. Currently looking at changing the virtual ground to either dual battery or replace the current resistor divided virtual ground to a buffered virtual ground. Ideally need to hunt out a new tin before i attempt any of that though.

Loads of info on cmoys here - http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/

I don't know the impedience but aren't they just Solo's? If so have a look here,
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/monster-beats-by-dre-solo.php, under the specs. Alternatively have a look on the Head-fi.org forums, no doubt someone on there will know.
Although you should have got some bumph with them that it'll list it.

Just ordered a Fiio E5 and a Fiio L3 line out dock. Just under £20 delivered.

What's everyone else using?

I've bought the above to use in conjunction with my iPhone 4S and Dre Beats HD headphones. I'll probably notice no difference in sound quality I bet haha.

Thoughts?
