I downloaded The Inbetweeners last week, put it on my external hdd and played through ps3 fine. I do it with all films. Havent come across 1 that has been blocked by Cinavia for ages.

Yeah, fine on PC! Will just get another copy.

There's no reason it shouldn't play correctly, as Brett said better off just downloading another copy, it'd take longer to re-encode the audio anyway!

I assume it works fine on your PC?

Brett

Just download another. It really isn't worth the effort

Just go on thepiratebay.org then go on Top100, movies, then it's number 1 on that list.

Brett, have you got a link to that copy? I assume it's not on some newsgroups thing etc..

Four Lions audio info

Open up the 4 lions films in the YAAI app and post it here, should be able to figure out what it is then

Brett

Ok, well you could re-encode the video yeah, but that'll take longer than downloading a different copy typically lol

Which one did you download? I know I'm xbox, but I downloaded the inbetweeners that's top of the TPB chart and that worked no problem at weekend.

Yes it's connected online, sorry.

Brett

Can you just answer whether this is online or not so I can stop flogging that line?

Liam

Is there anyway to change the audio codec? or is the issue embedded into the whole .avi file? and not the audio side..

Brett

posted on 20th Dec 11 at 12:31

Could've told you that. That won't make a difference. If it's playing the video but no audio then it's a codec or DRM issue, especially since it plays other files fine.

If it's not connected online alreay then do that, otherwise download a different copy.

Right, I copied over Four Lions & The Inbetweeners, 4 Lions worked perfectly and again no audio from The Inbetweeners! I tried copying the film straight to the PS3 and again I got no audio.

Edit - here is the audio info..

Use this;

http://yaai.sourceforge.net/

to see what codecs the file is encoded with and copy/paste the results in here

edit; the thing stopping you playing film copies is called Cinavia if you google "Cinavia workaround" there's plenty of guides (doesn't apply to this film though!)

the film you're trying to watch will be a codec issue, audio needs remuxing into MP3 or AC3 (i think PS3 supports AC3)

I'm sure it's something to do with an update published not too long ago, I'm sure I read somewhere that it was blocking "illegal" video downloads from being played on the console.

Can't find the link now, there's a workaround though.

Russ

presumably it would download the codec it needed

Liam

posted on 20th Dec 11 at 12:15

The file is ~700mb. Will try and copy it to the internal drive now.

Brett, why would it being connected online make a difference?

Daniel_Corsa

Copy it to the internal drive and see if it works?
How big is the movie file?

4GB+

Brett

posted on 20th Dec 11 at 12:11

Yeah, it could also be that, but assuming it's connected online that shouldn't be an issue.

Liam

posted on 20th Dec 11 at 12:06

Hmm, I have read somethings on google about audio codecs also being a problem with some files.

I'll try a different movie.

Brett

Still be DRM I think. Wasn't sure if it was a blu-ray only thing but just had a look and seems not. Downfall of using a Sony product to play illegal downloads. Look up Digital Right Management.

Liam

posted on 20th Dec 11 at 11:57

The file I wanted to play was a DVDRip, The Inbetweeners Movie..

Brett

posted on 20th Dec 11 at 11:51

Is it a ripped Blu-ray you're trying to play? Probably the DRM.

Trying to set up my 1TB HDD to use with my PS3, i've got it setup as FAT32, with the correct folders etc. I've put a film onto the HDD, and when I play it on the PS3 I get video but no audio, has anyone had this before? If so, what is the problem?
