I usually just find a torrent of the album and only select the one song I want for download.
Downloads in about 5 seconds.

Some bittorrent clients let you download single files out of a single torrent file, you could go that way I suppose.

Latest way I tend to use is just going on google and typing "artist" "track" "mediafire" or "4shared" and 9 times out of 10 someone's already uploaded it there and I just click download. Mainly use this because it's the only way I can do it at work :o

But for free you're better off trying to get hold of FLAC encoded files or MP3's with a bitrate higher than 320k from a bit torrent.

Absolute dog shite over a PA that's for sure. I think Amazon and Tesco are among the cheapest for single songs.
