right can't find the exe. file on the cd, it a legit version of 98. if i do find it where do i save it too

but i don't have xp, 98 and cant find the exe file

my pal had this prob - it is tru he solved it with a file on the disk so u dunt need to worry about the update or nuffin - also u dont need to worry if u aint got a legit copy of xp - u can still use update, i mean i DO have a legit copy but i know many who dont and have been using update scince day one and FAST still aint been knocking - admittedly they had to get a key changer so that service pack one would install but thats the only problem - if u read the t&c's of update it says the informaion will not enable us to identify your pc or anything like that - still u all have genuine copies of all yer software dont u?

The file you require is actually on the disk.

The file you need to run is called "instmsiw.exe" and its on the main part of the disk.

its a simple problem i think but i don't no how to fix it, comes up with the following when it starts to run installwizard:

The installation package canot be insalled by the windows install service, you must install a windows service pack that contains a newer version od windows installer service
D:/CM4.MSI

so what do i do :boggle:
