I've got the samsung TV and it streams everything with the inbuilt media player inc MKV's. Unfortunatley its the one below the iPhone remote compatible range. :(

And lets be honest I just want to show off with cover flow movies controlled by my iPhone :o:lol:

Will stick with my WD TV Live HD :D

Because they can be modded into something good :o But more likely because the 1st gen resembles a Mac Mini and the 2nd gen is more like an iPhone.

There's a tutorial out there somewhere, not got the link.

But in all seriousness, do what John says...

Any links for the modding of AppleTV1 to stuff a new GFX card in there and how to stick XBMC on it?

Not too fussed about 1080p like I say and defo not enough to go changing chips.

Might invest this weekend.

It's a 'complete media centre solution for Windows, Linux, OSX and Xbox' :o

Basically it's some software that you can use to play videos, music and photos on your TV either from a computer with a hard disk in it or from another computer on your home network via some kind of media centre.

I've never watched anything on my Tv in 1080p (apart from xbox) and don't DL 1080p content currently so can't see that being much of an issue.

Still don't know if it's worth £70 just for a better way to stream my stuff. I Might make use of iplayer, 4OD etc aswel I suppose.

People will say they're shit as they don't do 1080p, but in reality people will stream less than 1080p more often. I'd have one if I had a use, jb and install

Is the only thing missing from my collection. Can get them for £70 on eBay now and the Samsung TV suite I currently use for streaming is terrible.

Looks pretty decent jail broken running XBMC. I wouldn't use it for the downloadable films and stuff just streaming films and music from the laptop/iPhone 4/iPad through the TV/surround sound.

I like the idea of using the iPhone/iPad as a remote and the cover flow etc.

Anybody got one? Recommended?
