tmpgenc is a good piece of kit, even includes a time-limited mpeg2 encoder for dvd & svcd encoding, but for straight mpg encoding, it does a good job!
it used to be free, not sure if it is still

You can burn A VCD file to make it play in a VCD compatable DVD player.
However you cannot just use Nero to burn a DivX(.avi) movie and convert it to VCD. You will need other software to convert

My DVD plays VCD's (*.mpg) :D

Downloaded the entire Jackass movie in 4 hours, and dropped it onto a normal CDR.

Bargain!

think ure best off downloading as divx and getting a dvd player that plays that format.
speaking to a mate about it, and he reckons there are 3 or 4 units that are compatible

Hi there,

Just wondering, gunna get broadband soon and was wondering, if i download a movie, i know i can veiw it on my PC, but is there any software out there (which is preferebly free to download) which can convert the file in to the format that a DVD player can read it (VOB i think) and write it on to a recordable DVDR.

Cheers for any help.
