It's only needed to keep an eye on the driveway as I have a car sat on it, don't really want to start laying cables all the way back to the pc/router hence looking at wifi ideally something I could stick in the kitchen window would be great save having to mount extrernaly, would consider an external set up though

Can you not use a basic wired cctv system around the house?

At my work we have some basic IP cameras that link into a codec that then transmits through a small microwave transmitter with a small receiver mounted line of sight to it.

How much are you looking at spending? You might be able to get some cheap kit from CPC?

I couldn't recommend one for home use but I do use Wifi CCTV in work for a council and its a royal pain in the arse. Granted your distances won't be as great as ours but for the love of god do NOT put it anywhere near where tree leaves can get in the way of the signal!

Any idea what software/kit I should be looking at?

won't cost that much to run as it'll hardly be doing anything, even a cheap old laptop would do the job surely.

What about one that records to SD card?

They're probably shite but could do the job.

Anyone got a system? Or can recommend something? Basically I'd like to be setup a wifi CCTV cameran on my parents drive that I could record remotley as im unable to leave a pc switched on at parents, is this possible would it put a massive strain on my parents and my Internet connection?
easier just set up a box to record at their house?
