Ian

net send will do that, assuming you know the IP.

Its for administrator use only, can u imagine all the students having it, i dont think so. Plus for this sort of program is has to be put on the hard drive so the program would need to be installed every time the computers are reset which is crap and a waste of time.

well when the machines start up they must have a command from the server, why not put the program somewhere shared and adjust the startup file to automatically install it

With net send you should be able to target blocks of IPs

Joff

Netware used to just be "send[username] [message]".

Not sure what it is now if it's still there.

& make sure you put the login name, otherwise it goes to EVERY computer on the network!!!

Gambit

posted on 31st Mar 03 at 10:43

dunno if it works the same

but on NT, u can just do a net send

just goto Start -> Run and type the following

net send <userloginname> then your message

ie

net send cgamble go take you face for a shite

this would display a popup on cgambles pc saying go take your face for a shite

also, it gives the sender as the pc name sent from

dunno if it works on netware but try it, just send one to yourself & see if it works
