I never got addicted to Fallout 3 like I did with New Vegas, but looking back F3 had a much more 'epic' feel to it, the map felt bigger even if it wasn't and the atmosphere was much better.

New Vegas is much better gameplay-wise though, loads more guns and shit. And the harder monsters are genuinely terrifying. Even at level 20-plus if I saw a Deathclaw or a Giant Radscorpion I shitted it and ran away.

The strip is disappointing though.

I think 3 is better, Vegas is still good though.

i thought fallout 3 was extremely boring, too much wandering around aimlessly. i probably didnt give it enough of a chance

It will be capped again Paul and once you finish the main quest thats it.

Got both, completed Fallout 3 after a while (was quite thorough) and slowly working through the expansion packs now.
Not really played New Vegas much though, it didn't "get me" from the start like Fallout 3, but I'll start playing it a bit more soon enough. Seems ok though. They have completely re-worked the skillpoints idea though, just wonder if, unlike fallout 3, you can progress further than Level 20...

Both incredible games really, have to say 3 probably takes it. Alot of people said nv wasnt that good because it was too much like 3 but I think if its not broken dont fix it.

There both very good! However Fallout 3 takes it for me, the first time you come out of the wastes into DC its literally jaw dropping. Places like Rivet city also gave the game a great backdrop and story. A deserts too bland really, even though the strip etc is pretty cool.

What do people think, which do you prefer? And what do you think to the new setting?

Personally, I'm glad the game menu's, Pip-Boy, game layout and controls are the same.

BUT it doesn't have the same feel for me, Fallout 3 walking around Washington amongst real buildings and monuments was :! and the science museums with exhibits and the tunnel that narrated as you walked through

FNV is very good but it really doesn't live up to F3 visually. Places like Freeside remind me of GTA3!

I'm hoping Fallout 4 will be a return to Washington or even New York.
