I use ST.org for most things, and if I need something that's not on there (older stuff) then isohunt.com

Got myself a very good ratio on ST, mainly becuase their servers cocked up and gave me a few TB extra :D

I think the <£10 a month subscription out weights the £500 worth of downloaded media.

That being said, ive never paid for it and never will, not whilst I can max out line speed on private torrent sites which are safer etc

In particular the pirate bay is heavily monitored by the MPAA and copyright organisations etc.
I believe last month everyone who downloaded a ministry of sound album from TPB was issued with a fine to pay?
Someone here did it and was caught.

Heres the thread.

Personally I use private torrent trackers and a remote seedbox.

I've must've downloaded TB's over the years and never had a single problem. I'll wait for the day.

Like I said, I can appreciate the benefits of newgroups, etc. but I'm not paying. May as well pay for the actual product like John says.

Might as well just pay for the stuff you download if you go to the trouble of spending money imo.

I used to use torrents but mainly use newsgroups now. Cant recommend them enough. Always maxes out connection,no uploads, unzips automatically etc. They are great. Plus can use SSL when downloading if worried about fines etc

that sounds cool. Only way to get backtraced then would be ISP?
I think the ISP would only know that you were downloading something, they wouldn't know what exactly as it'd be encrypted. Newsgroup provider could roll ever though

Well that was easier that it sounded. Using SABnzbd, newsdemon and newzbin, just downloading my first file.

noshua

SABnzbd is good, repairs and unpacks automatically. Follow the setup guide and away you go.

I use Astraweb - $11/month, no bandwidth caps, SSL and 787 days retention (grows almost everyday).

You can get it a bit cheaper if you get 12 months at a time.

The website I use has closed signups at the minute so I'd recommend using newzbin, http://binsearch.info/, http://www.merlins-portal.net/usenet/nzb.php, http://nzbmatrix.com and finally http://filesharingtalk.com/nzbs/

eztv.it > uTorrent

Sometimes use Demonoid, but only download TV shows.

Iv given this one a go, seems cheap for ssl and unlimited downloads  http://www.newsdemon.com/

I looked at newsgroups before but it looked as confusing as fuck. So I need a client, a server and a nzb site? So far iv downloaded SABnzbd, signed up to newzbin and now I need a server right? but dont know which is any good.

What does everyone use to download their films/games? years ago I used bittorrent and such but now I mainly use rapidshare/megaupload etc but they are becoming worse.
