Its not called that on the release, same data though.

OS call it Code Point.

There's a download without reg here, also in some other formats - http://data.gov.uk/dataset/os-code-point-open

Or use the proper OS page to get more fields, stuff like council ward etc.

Unless I'm not searching properly on Google, I can't find any mention of 'free' PostZon data?

No, PostZon - co-ordinates of each code.

PAF with the street names and numbers is still licensed.

Frustrating, given the time I spent searching and also the fact that I ended up with some low resolution public domain stuff and programmed everything around that. And now I can either tolerate the inaccuracy knowing that it could be better - or change the programming and ask users for the rest of the code!

(and therefore have some users with a full code and some remaining just the left side)

There are PHP scripts available that will stick the lot into a MySQL database...

its all the regions split into CSV files, you could compile them all toegether into one file easily enough

trouble wasnt obtaining the data it was wrapping up a database in the mobile application that i designed to make it legally available to general public

at the time you couldnt do it legally without expensive license charges and fees etc from OS

About time OS did something like that.

Got a few datasets off there but I find browsing gets a bit boring because there's so much crap that isn't useful.

Did you see OS are doing something similar?
