rooting allows you to do more things with the phone, extreme theming, etc... ROMS are the software the phone runs, people make different styled and themed ROMS to suit there needs or give you more features than normal. | |

Only issue I see with the Samsung, is there TouchWiz UI leaves alot to be desired... I've tried it myself and really did prefer the vanilla launcher, or LauncherPro... | |
