File>Library>Export

Copy your music directory as mentioned. If the file path isn't the same, open in Notepad and use the Replace function to replace the old path with the new path.

Install iTunes, replace XML Library.

Just copy and paste the iTunes media folder to your backup location. Then you can paste it back in when you're done or leave it on a nas or something and set the folder location in preferences. The library is just an XML file, you might need to rebuild the library when you bring the folder back over by scanning it as iTunes is super gay.

I have a PC that requires a good old fashion format, its got iTunes and a bunch of tunes imported into it that came from CDs or the bad part of the Internet or whatever.

From what I remember, itunes will put all the songs into its own shitty filing folder scheme - is there anything out there that someone can reccomend to backup and import the itunes library?

Thanks
