Originally posted by PeteMTBer I just built a cheap pc today but have a problem. When I press the power button it starts up but cuts out after 5-10 seconds. I cant work out what the problem is. spec: Gigabyte K7 Triton series GA-7VKMP VIA KM266 Chipset (on-board sound and graphics) 256Mb DDR 2100 RAM 40Gb 7200 Maxtor HDD 16X DVD ROM 48X cd re-writer 17" Monitor Anyone got any ideas Dont slate the spec as its just something cheap i'm building for someone. Cheers in advance. Pete
this happened to me about a month ago when upgrading a friends computer. After looking at the mobo website (it too was a gigabyte) i found out the mobo turns the computer off if the cpu gets too hot. It turned out the heatsink had 2 layers that I had to take off to get to the thermal pad (god knows why :boggle: ) The mobo/cpu/heatsink kit, is it one you put together or cam pre-assembled?
