E Series phones last forever.

Lucky if mine makes 7 in the morning till 11 at night. Normally have to top it in the car.

The phone itself is very good, after playing with it for a while you realise how personalised you can make it. The browser on it is the best on any phone i've seen or used as well including the iPhone (im using it just now). If the battery was even semi decent it would be spot on.

The phone itself is probaly half decent, however in typical nokia form the battery isnt! although saying that the N95 8Gb wasnt that bad IIRC!

Yes you lost me, i moved to the dark side and ever since its been light and perfect :D

and to think i had every Symbian phone that nokia ever produced and I had all teh ones leading upto it! i think id still have a 7110 again :)

http://maemo.org

Its basically a load of linux/N900 developers who create all the software. Have you discovered the apps catalogue on the 900 yet? I've got quite a collection now

Nokia Applications
Nokia System Software Updates
Ovi
maemo.org
Maemo Extras-devel
Maemo Extras-testing
Maemo Nintendo Emulators
Mozilla Catalog
Nokia Applications

I found a link to automatically set up the maemo catalogues on your phone but cant find it at the moment :(

If you have a look around the site and forum though you should find it, if not drop me a u2u and i'll send over the catalogue info

It depends how you use the phone really, you can download an app to select which mode the phone connects to the network (3.5g, 2g, etc) and if you run it in 2g mode when you dont need an internet connection it improves battery life considerably. On a brighter note there is a new app avaliable that allows you to stream TV channels from all over the world which is pretty cool...UK only has one channel at the mo and thats BBC Yorkshire though

You can yeah but anything less than 1 under the top setting is too dull to read text :o

Can you turn the brightness of the screen down? I had my iphone on full beam all the time and it would last nearly a day but since i've reduced it, it lasts a bit better

I now have half no battery :o

What happened there was I was about to say I had half a battery then checked to see and there was none

I have the facebook app and a weather app running constant but apart from that I've received 1 text in that time and no phone calls. It is REALLY bad :|

Eck

That is fucking ridiculous. I was considering one, but I work 12 hour shifts and would prefer a phone that would last a day :|

Nath

well, as much as i love this N900, the battery life is really really starting to annoy me, the quoted figures are no where near accurate and for example yesterday it was fully charged in the morning, used it to listen to some songs and go online to check google maps, the battery was half gone within 2 hours! the battery was then completely dead after another 3 hours.

so basically listen to a few songs, checked email, checked a map online and took one call (around 4 minute call) and after 5 or so hours the phone is dead?

i have been online ant it seems ALOT of people are having the same issues, even with using the phone really efficently without internet browsing, no widgets etc the battery wont last much past 9 hours or so.

what are the chances of Nokia fixing this? can it be fixed with a firmware update to maybe improve battery efficiency? can you buy a better battery?
