Show me a normal, everyday desktop PC on the market today that is 64bit only so a 32bit OS cant be installed on it.

You won't find many, if any at all.

Ok I'll admit I'm wrong there to a certain extent.. Most 64bit processors will allow you to run 32bit windows but not ALL.

The bit you have written there in bold is wrong mate. That's why "you fail"

As John has said, these X64 processors that most desktop machines have now, are 32bit with 64bit extensions. You do NOT need a 64bit OS to use them, although they are cabable of running the 64bit OS.

Also 64bit windows does not run on an X86 platform..

So why do "I FAIL" ?

If what you are saying is correct why does WoW64 exist? Maybe the Microsoft developers were bored so they just made it for shits and giggles?

A 64 bit desktop processor is running the 32 bit apps natively though, it's a 32 bit processor with 64 bit extensions.

There are of course 64 bit only processors but he obviously doesn't have one of them when he's trying to download a windows torrent for his laptop, meaning you are still totally wrong.

Non-framework 32 bit applications DO run slower than equivilent non-framework 64bit apps on a 64bit processor.. that is a fact. I can't see why you are disputing it?

The same as 16bit apps are hindered on 32bit versions of windows because it has to emmulate the 16bit OS.

As John said. Only issue you might have with 64bit OS is getting drivers for hardware, although i've only had problems with old external gear.

One is 64 bit and one is 32 bit.

Go with the x86 (32 bit) one.

I'm dowloading something for my laptop and have no idea what the difference is between these two?

Therefore I have no idea which one to install, can anyone shed some light?
