Mine is about 2cm directly from the centre of the charging port.

Yeah, it was a tiny crack at the bottom where the charger plugs in, it didn't affect it but the guy just gave him a new one so yeah worth a try.

Mine is cracked on the rear casing. Is that something warranty covers? I have no idea how it happened!

EDIT: Searched on google, looks like a common problem. Booked to go to Apple Store tomorrow eve :D

Lloyds TSB premium banking gives you mobile phone insurance and cheap cover. You have to wait so long to claim though, £30 excess I think.

Well worth it even if you're not going to 'fraud' it.

Nice one. Even if they don't do that I think you can get a refurb one in exchange for the broke one for a few squid.

Changed the screen on one the other day was a tricky fucker to get apart.

Screen and digitiser were all one, and customer had only bought a screen so awaiting both coming to refit.

depends which iphone it is, the 3g and 3gs it a lot easier as the screen and digitiser bit are all one and they are about £40-50 but on the 2gs it is seperate and about £70ish for the screen. I only know this as I have a 2g that needs a new screen and thought in the end i will try and get it done somewhere
The screen and digitiser are all one piece on the 2G. The 2G is a pain in the arse to replace the screen on, the 3G is supposed to be easier but can't comment as I've never done one.
