hehe Davester, i've been trawling the net on answers......and installed CUP_Z.
The Ram thingy is done by a ratio, and mine is 2:3, so 399mhz is correct. But im peed off in getting a lower WEI score.................
but thanks anyway!:thumbs: I've learnt a few things about RAM :thumbs:

Kenni - The 399MHz is from a Single Data rate reading, because your RAM is Double Data Rate (DDR) it is actually 798MHz. 64 bit OS's can support more than 8GB of RAM, but obviously nobody is using that much in a regular PC yet so it doesn't really matter that much :lol:
Clown - 32 bit operating systems can address up to 4GB of memory but this includes memory from hardware such as the graphics card etc, which will usually limit a 32 bit PC to 3-3.5GB of addressable system memory.

Hi all.
I'm running vista 32 bits that supports 4gb max or 64 bits 8gb.
My processor is Q6600 Quad core and my FSB is running at 1066mhz
The old memory are 2 x matched pairs of 1gb of 5-5-5-12 at 667mhz and 2 x matched pairs of 512mb 5-5-5-12 at 667mhz running dual channel.
I thought the lower the CL the better?
Just downloaded PC wizard, its states the new memory is running at 399mhz :o GAY!
This is so annoying!

The stuff he took out was most likely CAS3.5 as thats more common in Dell's, so it will help explain why its running slower.

That's a good point actually, it may be being run slower due to the CPU FSB.
4-4-4-12 isn't THAT bad is it? :o I mean I've seen better but I thought that was kind of the average. Correct me if I'm wrong :thumbs:

Also just because you've fitted 800MHz RAM, doesn't mean its running at 800MHz (given your old ram was only 667)
Also, the timings on that stuff are pretty poor (4-4-4-12)... would explain alot tbh...

Unless you're using 64bit there's not much point in having 4GB of system RAM as it can't address all of it.
Are the new sticks running in Dual Channel?
The Vista score thing isn't amazingly accurate anyway and can change day to day. I once ran it on my old PC and got something like 1.6 on the RAM, then added a PCI USB card and got 2.4 or something :lol:

Hi all.
I have a Dell XPS420 and it came with 3 gb ram (2 x 1gb and 2 x 512mb) ddr2 667mhz.
I've just removed all the ram and replaced it with Corsair XMS2 4 x 1gb 800mhz 4-4-4-12 matched pairs.
Before the upgrade (or downgrade should i say :o) my Vista score was 5.6, now its 5.4 :(
Anyone shed some light why extra and faster ram has decreased this score??
