Yeh the balance is set correctly. It does have 2 headphone sockets right next to each other, not sure if thats meant to be a clue. Cant remember if it was fine with actual headphones, will try it 2moz.

If the wire is fine with other devices then I would suspect the laptop.

Are you sure the balance is central in volume control? Have a look around Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel.

Have tried using a stereo jack to 2 phono but only get sound from one side, either left or right. Any ideas what could be causing it? The wire works fine with ipod etc as does the hifi :boggle:
