If you have the licence information on your computer just get a "legal" copy.

Yeah you cant do what you want to do basically, you'd need to boot off the external disk so it loads up all the registry and the registered DLL files etc.

I had some software on laptop but not got the setup cd anymore, so i thought if i use norton ghost to create a exact replica of hard drive and put it on my external drive i could still use it but it doesnt work. i'm not booting off the external drive, is this the problem? i can use the program on the original laptop but on the external drive but not on my new laptop. the error i get is "this application has failed to start because ace.dll was not found. Re-installing the program may fix this problem". I can't reinstall as I dont have the original cd :boggle:
