The new arcade Jaspers have 256mb built in, the rest of the Jasper range (Prem/Elite) won't have.

Wait a few weeks as the Jasper models of the arcade will be hitting the shelfs - low power usage (45nm CPU & GPU) = less heat = hopefully an Xbox that doesn't 'Ring of Death'

With regards to the hard drive, easiest thing to do is getting a damaged one of ebay and the change the drive - works out cheaper.

so does the in-built memory fill up pretty quickly then? will only have a couple of games to start with so there shouldnt be a huge amount of save data.

They are all prone to 'breaking'. If you mean 3 red lights, MS up till now are replacing them free of charge with either a repaired / updated model or a new console.

You really will need a harddrive if you want to start saving games though

edit - ^^ thats with or without warranty, my first console was a £100 ebay job, it broke in 3 months and I got a new one sent out to me fresh from the warehouse

i'm looking to buy a 360 soon and i was just wondering if there are any annoying disadvantages to having the arcade console over the premium? i'm not fussed about not having the hard drive or internet cable just yet, i can get those at a later date if i feel like it. is the arcade more prone to breaking under warranty because thats what i've been told. any help you can give me will be a great help coz im an Xbox n00b
