ok the o2 PAYG one sounds good enough to me, as ill be bringing it back to thailand with me, i want all the features enabled etc and fully unlocked, so im guessing it needs to be jailbroken, where can i get that done?

If you are NEEDing it to be fully unlocked then you might have to avoid new phones. The new 2.2 firmwares have not been unlocked yet. I am guessing that by now the new phones are coming with at least 2.2 (doubt they are at 2.2.1).

You might be lucky and get one with an old firmware on it but its a big risk to take or you will have to wait for the to crack the latest firmware.

2.2 has been unlocked, infact 2.2.1 has been unclocked aslong as you don't update the baseband to 02.30.03 - it's all on the front page of the iphone-dev blog :|

edit - and yeah there is apparently a new iphone "around the corner", but details haven't been leaked, so it's rumours only at the moment.

iphone-dev.org is a good place to start as they are they ones that develope the hacks. Other than that, > GOOGLE < and sign up to a few forums like www.theiphoneblog.com

If you don't want it on contract, then then best thing to do is either buy a 2nd had 3G from ebay (or new if you can find one cheap enough) or buy a PAYG iphone from O2 and then use an O2 Simplicity tarrif (O2 PAYG iphone + Simplcity is cheaper than a iphone contract) with the internet add-on.

Jailbreaking allows the phone to be unlocked (depends on baseband and firmware version) and use 3rd part applications.

IIRC its about 350 GBP for a PAYG one

Im coming back to the UK soon and want to get myself a 3g Iphone, i can get them here just released but they are costing the equivalent of about 580quid inc a contract u have to take out with them.

What kind of deals can you get in the uk as i dont want to get it on contract, and also what is having it jailbroken etc all about i really dont have a clue when it comes to Iphones

Oh and the 3g stuff all will be working here very shortly so i definately want to get one instead of the 2g ones.

Cheers
