Yeah I only ever got that a few times but If I couldn't log in on the webmail then I knew the OE would be down. On O2 now anyway :)

Go through these settings.

Client Settings
Is there a problem with your email program settings? Please make sure that you've configured your email program with these settings:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: mail.btinternet.com
Outgoing (SMTP) Server: mail.btinternet.com
Account Name/Login Name: your full email address
Email Address: your full email address

Set Up
Have you selected an incompatible log-in method or server type when you set up your email program? To check your settings, please follow the steps below for your email program.

Microsoft Outlook Express

Click "Tools," and select "Accounts"
Click the "Mail" tab, and choose "Properties"
On the "Servers" tab, ensure that you have not checked "Log on Using Secure Password Authentication" in the Incoming Mail Server section
Make sure you have selected "My Server Requires Authentication" in the Outgoing Mail Server area
Check that "POP3" is listed in the Incoming Mail Server field
On the "Advanced" tab, ensure that you have not selected "This Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL)" under the Incoming (POP3) or Outgoing (SMTP) Port settings

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Try mail.btinternet.com for both Pop 3 and SMTP and tick the box for 'My server requires authentication'

So ive just done a wipe of my laptop and now im trying to get my email to work again.. but im getting this error

quote:
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'pop3.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Now my password and login are correct as they work on the bt website to log me in to view them manually.. and ive checked their reccomended settings and done it but it still fails

in - pop3.btinternet.com
out - smtp.btinternet.com

any suggestions?
